Parent / Legal Guardian – Child Serving Policy (4th & 5th Grade)

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to encourage discipleship and to develop young servant leaders by allowing older children to serve alongside a parent or legal guardian in Christ’s Kids.

Eligibility

  • Children in 4th & 5th grade may serve in Christ’s Kids only when serving alongside a parent or legal guardian.

  • The parent must be an approved volunteer and serve on the regular rotation.

  • Participation is limited to roles appropriate for the child’s age, maturity and abilities.

Serving Guidelines

  • The child must remain under the direct supervision of their parent at all times.

  • Children may assist with tasks such as: helping lead games or activities, assisting with crafts or classroom setup/cleanup, reading to children. If serving in the nursery, 4th & 5th grade helpers may not pick up any babies to stand up and hold.

  • Children may not be left alone with other children or placed in positions of authority over peers.

Training and Approval

  • The parent or legal guardian are responsible for explaining expectations and appropriate behavior to their child and reviewing the policies and procedures.

  • The Children’s Ministry Director reserves the right to:

    • Approve or deny participation

    • Reassign roles as needed

    • Discontinue participation if behavior or safety concerns arise
