Christ’s Kids Children’s Ministry
Parent / Legal Guardian – Child Serving Policy (4th & 5th Grade)
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to encourage discipleship and to develop young servant leaders by allowing older children to serve alongside a parent or legal guardian in Christ’s Kids.
Eligibility
Children in 4th & 5th grade may serve in Christ’s Kids only when serving alongside a parent or legal guardian.
The parent must be an approved volunteer and serve on the regular rotation.
Participation is limited to roles appropriate for the child’s age, maturity and abilities.
Serving Guidelines
The child must remain under the direct supervision of their parent at all times.
Children may assist with tasks such as: helping lead games or activities, assisting with crafts or classroom setup/cleanup, reading to children. If serving in the nursery, 4th & 5th grade helpers may not pick up any babies to stand up and hold.
Children may not be left alone with other children or placed in positions of authority over peers.
Training and Approval
The parent or legal guardian are responsible for explaining expectations and appropriate behavior to their child and reviewing the policies and procedures.
The Children’s Ministry Director reserves the right to:
Approve or deny participation
Reassign roles as needed
Discontinue participation if behavior or safety concerns arise
